Course Objective: Students will learn the basics of music including beat, rhythm, tempo, and singing. The students will also learn about rhythm, pitch, intervals, and other aspects of music that coincide with these topics. The goal of this course is for students to understand and master the basics of music using techniques provided by the Quaver Music Program. This program will provide a break down of the basics of music with accompanying activities for assessment.

Course Requirements:

1. Students are required to come to class with a positive attitude and willingness to learn material.

2. Each student will be required to participate in the lessons daily.

3. Worksheets and other handouts will be provided for the students daily that accompany the lesson for that day.

4. Students will learn songs that accompany each lesson.

5. Students may learn additional material not provided by Quaver at the discretion of the teacher.

6. The teacher will provide all materials for this course.

7. Students will be required to complete assessments after certain lessons to ensure that they are mastering the material.

Grading Scale: Music is an elective course. Therefore students will receive the following letter grades:

· Satisfactory

· Needs Improvement

· Unsatisfactory

This grade is based on classroom participation from each student. Failure to participate or cooperate with the prepared lesson may result to an Unsatisfactory as the grade.
